Is Vebatec HT1500 suitable as a cylinder head gasket for boat engines?
Unfortunately, Vebatec HT1500 is not suitable as a cylinder head gasket for boat engines: it hardens into a solid mass when it dries out, comparable to a mortar, for example. However, due to the alternation between expansion and contraction of the individual materials of the engine, the adhesive does not cooperate, making delamination and shearing very likely.
Vebatec HT300 could be used as a possible alternative. This sealant is both oil-resistant and temperature-resistant for short-term temperature loads of up to 300°C at its peak. In contrast to HT1500, HT300 remains permanently elastic after curing.
